What is skin eczema?
Eczema is a dry, itchy skin condition.
What do you notice?
You notice redness, scales, and bumps that can leak fluid and then crust over
tend to come and go. When they get worse, it is called a flare-up.
How is eczema treated?
Doctors may recommend treatments based on the severity.
What are the go-to treatments ?
Most common are “topical” and applied on skin.
Skin should be moisturized often (ideally, two or three times a day). The best time to apply moisturizer is after a bath or shower, with the skin patted dry gently.
Can you bathe the babies?
Short baths or showers in warm (not hot) water. Use mild unscented soaps or non-soap cleansers and pat the skin dry before applying moisturizer.
Dress the babies in soft clothes that “breathe,” such as those made from cotton.
Keep your baby’s fingernails short to prevent skin damage from scratching. Mittens at night time is best.
Keep them hydrated and avoid heat.
